Over in Tremont, former Bar Harbor Town Manager Dana Reed is back on the payroll as he has agreed to serve as interim town manager there. The hills of MDI are alive with music this week. Brass Week finishes up in Bar Harbor this week as the old time music of the Acadia Trad School begins to fill the air. And the twice a week band concerts on the Village Green in Bar Harbor have begun for the season.
As far as this weekend goes, our top pick would be the lobster boat races and car and motorcycle show that are part of Bass Harbor Days.
Oh, and about the 4th? Well, NBC's Today Show, plugged Bar Harbor's 4th of July this week as one of the five most patriotic celebrations in the country. So get ready to party. We'll have plenty about it next week too but to be safe we've included a schedule in this issue so you can figure out exactly what to do when all those long-lost relatives arrive for a picnic.
All that, plus sports, maritime news, money-saving ads, everything you need to know about where to eat, shop, and have fun, and a complete list of all the scholarship and award winners at MDI High School, in this week's Mount Desert Islander.
