BAR HARBOR — Alone Moose gallery on the Bar Harbor waterfront will sponsor a series of workshops and demonstrations during June for the Acadia Birding Festival and the Legacy of the Arts Festival.

Wildlife artist Abby McBride will offer a workshop in drawing birds with pen and colored pencil on Saturday, June 14, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Students should arrive with their own bird photo as subject matter, and Ms. McBride will provide the art supplies. On display will be Ms. McBride’s drawings, along with sketches from her new book. The class is limited to six students; the fee is $12.

As a special Father’s Day event on Sunday, June 15, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Bar Harbor bird carver, carving instructor, and avid birdwatcher Ed Hawkes will demonstrate carving and answer questions. Also, on display will be a number of his finished carved birds. He has won numerous national and international competitions including best of show for a life-size loon at the Ward’s World Competition and best in show for his osprey in the Maine state competition. The event is free and open to all.

On Wednesday, June 18, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., students can make a 4 1/2-inchby 4 1/2-inch book of several pages with Alone Moose gallery owner Sherry Rasmussen that can be used for photos, poems, drawings, or pressed flowers. The class is limited to six students; a $10 fee includes all materials.

On Thursday, June 19, from 8 to 10 a.m., Alone Moose gallery owner Ivan Rasmussen returns to Legacy of the Arts with his popular watercolor workshop. Students of all levels of ability are invited to attend. Brushes, paper and paint are provided. The two-hour class is limited to eight students. A $15 fee includes all materials.
