BAR HARBOR — Mount Desert Island High School has chosen its new principal. The school has hired Matthew Garrity-Janger, a career educator from Ann Arbor, Mich. Mr. Garrity-Janger was selected by a 16-member committee including students, parents, teachers, school board members and administrators. The committee formally announced its decision on Monday. Mr. Garrity-Janger will begin his employment with the high school in July. The search committee ultimately selected Mr. Garrity-Janger for his excellent resume and qualifications, and because his goals and ideals were in line with those of the high school, said superintendent Rob Liebow. “He has a good vision and will be a good facilitator and leader for the next phase of the high school.” See this week’s Mount Desert Islander, available on newsstands Wednesday afternoons, for the full story. |
